Each of the three straps has its own pin buckle, so you can tighten or loosen them independently rather than the whole sandal moving as one unit. As for the cork-latex footbed, give it a chance to air out between wears instead of tucking the sandals straight into a bag. And try to keep them out of direct sun for long stretches as too much sun exposure can dry out the cork and cause it to crack.
